Who We Are

A community standing up for nature

Our group was formed in 2024 in response to Manchester Metropolitan University's proposed development of 120 houses on Ryebank Fields and the invasive site surveys carried out during the planning process. Through lawful and peaceful protest, we have sought to defend a valued local green space and promote meaningful community involvement in planning decisions. We believe that local people should have a genuine voice in shaping developments that affect their neighbourhoods. Planning decisions should reflect the needs, aspirations, and values of the communities most directly impacted by them. Local authorities have a responsibility to listen to residents and carefully consider their views when making decisions that affect public health, wellbeing, and the environment. Our campaign is dedicated to ensuring that Ryebank Fields remains a community woodland and meadow for current and future generations to enjoy.
